Soldiers ordered not to wear Apple watches and Google glasses
In an official order released by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Daily, members of the military in China have been warned against using smartphones and high-tech spectacles.
People's Liberation Army (PLA) Daily is the official publication of China’s military.
The order also stated that "The use of watches that have Internet access, location information, and telephone conversation functions should be considered a violation of secrecy regulations at army barracks."
This is coming on the heels of an incident involving a soldier, who was arrested taking photographs of his colleagues, with a smartwatch, in a military base, east of Nanjing.
The report also said 'When officers and men put on these type of spectacles, it is extremely possible that army positions can be tracked, endangering the security of military operations.'
The smartwatch was confiscated and the data was analysed by security experts.
