1 killed as tornado sweeps through North Texas

One person has been killed after a tornado swept through the North Texas town of Cisco.

Local authorities say that several others still remain unaccounted for.

According to reports, the tornado touched down in rural Eastland County on Saturday evening, just minutes before a second tornado struck near Wichita Falls in Wichita County.

Public safety officials told the Associated Press that although a thorough damage assessment is yet to be completed, it's clear that several homes have been destroyed.

According to National Weather Service spotters,  the Cisco tornado was accompanied by hail as large as oranges.

They also warned of multiple tornadoes in the Great Plains region from Texas to Oklahoma to Kansas throughout that day, even as a woman reportedly drowned in her storm shelter in the wake of unprecedented flooding and tornadoes in Oklahoma.
