Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta has signed a one-year-contract extension with the FA Cup Champions.

Arteta who joined Arsenal from Everton in 2011 and has become an important part of the club.
The 33-year-old however missed most of last season with an injury before the emergence of Francis Coquelin.
Arteta's signing could also mean that Arsene Wenger is ready to shelve plans to sign a new defensive midfielder this summer.
Arsenal are said to have dropped their interest in Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, who set to join Manchester United.

With the Coquelin and Arteta, Wenger feels he does not need to add a another midfielder to add to the likes of Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky.
