The 29-year-old spent last season on loan at Manchester United a hope of securing a permanent deal.

After an underwhelming season at Old Trafford where he scored just four goals, Louis van Gaal decided not to sign the former Atletico Madrid striker on a permanent contract.

Chelsea who have released Didier Drogba have now confirmed that they have signed the striker on a loan deal from his parent club, Monaco.

The striker decided to remain in England and accepted a pay cut which encouraged Chelsea to seek for a him.

Falcao will be unveiled when he returns from holidays after playing in the Copa America for Colombia.

As part of the deal, Chelsea have sent their midfielder Mario Pasalic on loan to Monaco for the 2015/16 season.

The 20-year-old Croatian midfielder, who signed for Chelsea from Hajduk Split last summer, will join the Ligue 1 side as he continues his development.
