Twitter users have cause to rejoice. The reason is the Twitter’s direct messaging character limit has now been dropped.

Tech sources say Twitter’s direct messaging is taking a new chat dimension where users can type and send message in a continuous thread, rather than the former way, where messages have to be cut to fit the character limit.
According to Sachin Agarwal, Twitter's DM product manager, "You may be wondering what this means for the public side of Twitter.”
