Has Akufo-Addo’s deputy ministerial appointments been leaked?

Sources close to the President have revealed a list of possible candidates to be appointed as deputy ministers in President Akufo-Addo’s government.

Having overseen the swearing-in of all his ministerial nominees, the president’s next task will be to name those who will assist the substantive ministers in discharging their duties.

Reports suggest that erstwhile deputy youth organizer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP),Anthony Karbo will be assisting Minister for Roads and Highway Kwasi Amoako-Atta as his deputy.

MP for Ofoase Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, together with NPP deputy Communications director Perry Okudzeto have been tipped as deputies to Mustapha Hamid at the Information Ministry.

MP for Cape Coast North, Barbara Asher Ayisi, is also in line to be named as Deputy Minister in-charge of Tertiary Education, with Godfried YeboahDame expected to head to the Attorney General’s Department as deputy to Gloria Akuffo.

In the finance ministry, Kwaku Kwarteng, the MP for Obuasi West, is set to be named as sector minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s deputy.

The NPP’s director for international affairs Charles Owiredu is also very likely to assist Shirley Ayorkor Botchway at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Minister for Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah might be teaming up with Hearts of Oak’s Managing Director Vincent Sowah Odotei, while Gifty Twum-Ampofo, MP for Abuakwa North, could also be heading to the Gender, Children & Social Protection Ministry as Otiko Afisa Djaba’s deputy.

Minister for Energy, Boakye Agyarko may also be partnering with Kobby Okyere Darko-Mensah, MP for Takoradi and Mohammed Amin Anta of ACEP, as the Nana Addo government takes shape.

Osei Bonsu Amoah, MP for Akuapem South is primed to be appointed deputy minister at the Local Government and Rural Development Ministry.

Either George Neenyi Andah or Dr Nana Ayew Afriyie will likely be selected as deputy to Communications Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful.

The deputy ministerial appointments of President Akufo-Addo are expected to be dominated by MPs, with Francisca Oteng Mensah, Dr Okoe Boye, Barbara Oteng-Gyasi and Kwaku Agyeman-Manu all penciled for various roles.
