The Ghana Premier League (GPL) champions were left shell-shocked after they were beaten 3-1 at home by Libyan side Al-Ahly Tripoli.
Coach Enos Adepa’s side now face an uphill task to overturn the deficit when they come up against the Libyan giants over the weekend.
The Wa-based club’s poor outing comes after successive failures by Ghanaian clubs in continental competitions in recent times.
George Afriyie believes a lack of experience on the side of Wa All Stars was the club’s undoing.
“The players that won the league title for Wa all stars are comparatively young and are inexperienced to compete on such a big stage,” he said.

“Playing with African giants in CAF requires a blend of skills and experience like Bechem united did ahead of their Confederations Cup journey.
“Wa All Stars cannot blame their defeat on preparations because they had one of the best, right from Sudan through to Dubai but that is not enough to compete in Africa. They need a blend of experience to rub shoulders with the big guns on the continent.”
Wa All Stars will be hoping to avoid an early exit from the CAF Champions League when they face Al-Ahli Tripoli in the second leg, with an eye on overturning the 3-1 deficit.
