Striker jets to France after being released by Tottenham
It's an early season break for Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor who has jetted to a holiday spot in France after being released by Tottenham.
The 31-year-old had been training with Tottehmen youth team after coach Mauricio Pochettino informed him that he was not in his plans for the new season.
The Togolese striker was told to find a new club in the transfer window but demanded that Spurs pay him the full £5million left on his contract.
Tottehman however revealed through a statement that the striker's contract has been terminated by mutual consent.
The former Arsenal striker took to Twitter to announce that he has ended his association with Spurs.
"I can confirm that I have reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur to terminate my contract," Adebayor tweeted.
'I wish to thank the club and the fans for my time there and I wish them well for the forthcoming season."
Adebayor will now weigh up his next move while holidaying in France.
He is unlikely to join any club until the January transfer window or may need to seek clearance from FIFA to join a new side before that time because he was registered as a Spurs player after transfer deadline day.
West Ham United and Aston Villa showed interest in the striker during the summer transfer window.
