The match day two clash could either be an opportunity for the ‘Giants of the West’ to make amends after losing 3-0 to Wa All Stars last week or a proof of their unreadiness for the season.
Issues of players boycott of training over eight months unpaid salaries has cast a big shadow of doubts about the club's campaign this season. But coach Yusif Basigi thinks contrarily, reckoning that he would have quit his position if the team was not ready for the season.
"Why not. If we are not ready I wouldn't have been on the bench of the team. Seriously I would have just come out to say that am sorry I can't. But the team is ready, fully ready for the season".
Basigi also says the team has put away their 3-0 heavy defeat to Wa All Stars, as they turn attention to winning their first home match. He also says however that the defeat was not a big blow.
"As for the preparations, we are just focused despite the fact that we lost to Wa All Stars. It is a thing of the past, we've put that behind us and then we are looking forward to also winning our first home game".
"Never, never, we lost to them last season 3-1 and this time 3-0 and I knew the factors that affected our performance and result and that was the weather, terribly bad".
He further reveals that there is a good spirit in the team. He said "Everything is going on well. The enthusiasm is very high so am very happy for the team".
Techiman City, managed to overcome the persisting legal battle around them to secure a 1-0 win over regional rivals, Berekum Chelsea in their debut match of the league.
And with an experience head coach in Yusif Abubakar, formerly of Berekum Chelsea, Medeama, Hearts of Oak and Heart of Lions, the club has targeted staying in the premier league this season.
For Basigi, he asserts that winning is the only result he expects on Saturday afternoon.
"I must just win, not even a draw will be satisfactory, it's just a must win match. I'm not underestimating City. Techiman City is a very good side, after all they've taken their three maximum points already at their home and we also have to take our three maximum points, that's all".
