Former Newcastle United defender, Jonas Gutierrez has sued the English Premier League club for £2m over the way they treated him after his battle with testicular cancer.
The defender returned to football after a year-out battling cancer and played a very important role in ensuring Premier League safety for Newcastle.
The 31-year-old had a man of the match performance on the last day of last season in the EP win against West Ham, assisting a goal and scoring another to ensure Newcastle avoid relegation.
The defender took to his Twitter account to hit out at the club writing: "two things I learn from my illness how you can support a player (newcastle fans) and how you leave a player alone (newcastle owner)."
Now the Argentine according to Daily Mail has made a claim under the 2010 Equality Act, which relates to discrimination against employees because of mental or physical disability.
Gutierrez now plays for La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna, making his debut in the 1-1 draw at Granada last week.
