Annual New year school opens

The 68th Annual New Year School and Conference opened at the University of Ghana Legon, yesterday, January 15, 2017 with focus on the use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to  promote agricultural modernisation in the country.

Keynote address will be delivered by the Country Director of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, Dr Abebe Haile Gabriel.

The three-day annual event, geared towards is dedicated to the agriculture sector and the use of ICT to advance the sector and improve the lot of farmers.

The Dean of the School of Continuing and Distance Education, Professor Michael Tagoe, said agriculture has been identified as one of the sectors, which spurs the country's development because of its direct bearing on industry.

Prof. Tagoe said the New Year School seeks to provide a platform for sharing information on important national issues; at the end of which a is communique is issued to guide national policy makers.
