Ghana came close to their worst start to a FIFA World Cup qualifiers after they picked just two points from three games in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Black Stars have been rocked bottom of group E of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers of the African zone, after they were held to a one all draw by Congo in Kumasi on Friday.
Ghana began the campaign in Tamale and the Cranes of Uganda gave their high flying opponents a shock by settling for a goalless draw, before they were edged 2-0 by Egypt.
The last time Ghana had a poor start to the World Cup qualifiers was the 2002 elimination stage- The Black Stars lost their opener 1-3 at home to Liberia, before they were beaten by Sudan in an away tie and returned home just to get a point against Nigeria.
The 2002 World Cup qualifiers remains Ghana’s worst start since the inception of the group stage in the 1990 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
