The Newcastle United winger will lead the Black Stars when they face the Cranes of Uganda on Friday.Christian Atsu will captain the Black Stars on Friday when they take on the Cranes of Ugnada in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying game in Kampala.
Ghana have a growing list of injuries ahead of their penultimate World Cup qualifier against Uganda, with about six (6) players sidelined including four (4) senior players- Asamoah Gyan, Jonathan Mensah, John Boye, Harrison Afful.

Meanwhile Andre Ayew and Jordan who are also amongst the senior players in the current Black Stars were not handed call-ups into the team by James Kwesi Appiah, the coach.
Daniel Opare earned his Black Stars debut before Christian Atsu did in 2012, but the former Real Madrid youth player has just made a return to the team after years of absence, hence the responsibility now lies on the Newcastle United winger to lead the team.
Ghana need to win against Uganda and expect Congo to at least secure a point in Alexandria against Egypt to keep their hopes of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup alive
