Ghana last won the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 1982 in Libya and have since then failed to win any of the three finals in the continental showpiece.

The Black Stars lost via penalty shootout to their West African neighbours, Ivory Coast in the final of the 2015 AFCON staged in Equatorial Guinea and Agyemang Badu who was part of the team has stated that the Black Stars are yearning for a trophy for the country.

“I called Asamoah Gyan and Dede Ayew and both players expressed their eagerness to win a trophy for the nation.

“The other Black Stars players have the same feeling. We want to at least win it. Although we have been in the final twice in recent times, we are yet to win the ultimate, he told Happy FM.

Ghana have qualified for the 2017 Africa Cup to be staged in Equatorial Guinea.
