The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) alleged that Dr Bawumia enticed two electoral officers at Kperiga Presby JHS ‘A’ polling station in Walewale constituency in the Northern Region with a sum of GHc 10, 000, for him to be verified in his home.

The two officials were dismissed by the EC even before any investigation was carried out.

The governing NDC then lodged a complaint with the Walewale District Police to investigate the matter.

The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, said the regional CID has taken charge of the case.

“A complaint was lodged with the Walewale police, and the CID in the Northern Region has taken statements from the verification officer of the EC and one other officer. As we speak, they are even in the jurisdiction doing further investigations. As and when we need to put anything out there, we will do so,” he indicated.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission has revealed that the two officials were guilty as accused. This was contained in a press statement released by the Commission after a three-member committee was set up to investigate allegations levelled against Dr Mahamadu Bawumia.

Subsequently, the NPP released a statement asking the National Democratic Congress to bow their heads in shame for “spewing lies” against Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
