Yakubu was confirmed dead at age 35 last Tuesday at the Tema Government Hospital after battling with illness.
The death of the former Black Stars midfielder has stunned many Ghanaians including James Kwesi Appiah.
”Abubakar‘s death has been a shock to many of us. He was a very good college and we all shared the same platform on which we chat,” he told Kumasi-based Angel FM.
”We were actually informed about his ailment and planned of a visit but unfortunately he passed out.

”We are really sad about the news but my deepest condolences go to the family and to all ex-footballers.”
The ex-Ajax player made 16 appearances for Ghana from 2002 to 2006. He is expected to be buried today in Tema.
