Charles Antwi, the man who was once jailed 10 years for attempting to kill President John Mahama, will finally walk home as a free person today.

Francis Xavier-Sosu, a human rights lawyer and counsel for Charles Antwi, who appealed to set aside the sentencing of Antwi, told 3news.com that his client would be released later today.
Charles Antwi was sentenced to 10-years imprisonment for illegally possessing an arm on his first appearance in court. The sentence was immediately pronounced after the suspect confessed to wanting to kill President Mahama so he could become president.

An Accra Human Rights court, however, quashed the earlier judgment of the Accra Circuit Court which sentenced Charles Antwi.

According to the judge, his ruling is based on the record of the Circuit Court presented to him which clearly shows the circuit court judge erred.
The judge further ordered the applicant to be released and sent to the Accra Psychiatric hospital.
The ruling followed a suit filed by Francis Xavier Sosu who prayed the court to set aside the sentencing for Charles Antwi citing errors in the judgment of the circuit court.
