In response to questions asked by Alhassan Suhuyini, Member of Parliament for Tamale North pertaining a letter he [Amidu] wrote to the late President Atta Mills apologising over his conduct when he was the Attorney General, he said he "wrote the letter but I don't see anything wrong if a young person works with an elder for a while and relations break down between them.

"I have lived with decent people in harmony for 66 years but I cannot live in harmony with criminals adding: "decent people, I will live with them but criminals, I can’t."

"I wrote the letter under the persuasion of Kofi Awoonor and Captain Tsikata...The circumstances under which the pair procured the letter from me were reprehensible."
