The flagbearer of the Convention Peoples Party Ivor Greenstreet has presented its presidential nomination forms to the Electoral Commission (EC) to enable him contest the December polls.

Presidential and parliamentary candidates are mandated to a filing fee of GH¢50,000 and GH¢10,000 respectively but several political parties have raised concerns with the pricing.

However, speaking on the EC’s request for an asset declaration, Mr Greenstreet said the CPP believed in transparency and, therefore, he did not see anything wrong with declaring his assets.

“We always wish to comply with orders of institutions of government and we are willing and hoping to be transparent about our affairs so we feel that is the right thing to do,” he said.

Meanwhile, other presidential hopefuls have submitted their nomination forms to enable them contest in the December 7 elections.

They are the Presidential nominee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo,  the flag bearer of UPP, Mr Addai, Nana Boateng of the UFP.

President John Mahama of the NDC also filed his nomination forms, former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, Mr Kofi Apaloo of the Independent People’s Party (IPP), Madam Akua Donkor of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) and Mr Kwabena Adjei of the Reform Patriotic Democrats (RPD).

Earlier today, the People’s National Convention (PNC) flagbearer Dr Edward Mahama also filed but failed to take along a picture of himself which will be used on the ballot paper.

The Progressive Peoples Party PPP also submitted their nomination form and filing fees despite a pending court case on the amount the EC is demanding as  filing fees for presidential and parliamentary candidates.
