The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for the Tatale-Sanguli constituency in the Northern Region has announced his decision to contest the 2016 parliamentary elections as an independent candidate.

His supporters argue that the constituency’s register was fabricated to favour his rival Nbomba.

Yanwube says he is going solo because of calls from supporters, party officials and notable people in the constituency encouraging him to contest the December polls.

According to the legislator, some of his constituents have threatened to banish him if he refuses to contest the seat.

Mr Yanwube has promised to continue campaigning for the NPP’s presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo to see him win the presidency on his third attempt.

The NPP’s seats in the Northern Region rose from three to 10 in the 2012 elections.
