Lawmaker wants teachers to carry guns just like police and soldiers

Will Ainsworth’s proposal comes after the Valentine’s Day mass shooting incident in Stoneman Douglas that was reportedly perpetrated by a former student of the school who had been dismissed.

Alabama lawmaker, Will Ainsworth from Guntersville in the United States has proposed that congress passes a bill into law that will authorize teachers to carry guns just like the police and military.

Reports say about 17 people lost their lives and more than fifty were injured in the attack.

According to Unilad.co.uk, the lawmaker was of the view that, in the era of unexpected attacks on schools, it had become imperative that a law is passed to enable teachers and administrators receive both training and authorisation carry hidden weapons while in school, for protection.

While to others, it's an ivory-tusked elephant standing before the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro. But have you ever stopped to ask what is the original name of Africa? Did the continent have another name in the first place?

Will Ainsworth is quoted as saying, “Our children are sitting ducks in gun-free schools and as the parent of three public school students, I believe we must act now in order to prevent another tragedy.

“With roughly two-thirds of the regular session remaining, there’s ample time to research, introduce, pass and enact this much-needed and potentially life-saving legislation.

“They wanted to know what we could do

“More gun control will not stop someone who is intent upon inflicting harm in our schools, but someone who is properly trained and armed with the right equipment certainly can.

“It is my hope that passage of this legislation can be fast-tracked once it has been introduced.”

However, another Senator, Doug Jones disagree with him completely. He described the proposal as the “dumbest idea I’ve ever heard” especially at a time when most Americans are advocating for gun control.
