Nkrumah was a "perfectionist" compared to other leaders: Samia

Samia Nkrumah has said his father, Dr Kwame Nkumah, has his own flaws as a politician but says he far outweigh others after him.

Mrs Nkrumah, who was speaking on GTV'S "Breakfast Show" on Thursday said Dr Kwame Nkrumah had his "flaws as a human being, as a politician," adding that he far outweigh others.

"He had his flaws. As a politician, he may not have done everything perfect. Honestly, he was perfectionist compared to compared to anything that came after him,” she said.

Speaking on wide range of issues, she said Ghana needs adopt the independence philosophy of Nkrumah in other to wean itself from neocolonialism.

“His philosophy was saying, we can do things ourselves, we don’t need to borrow anything,” she said. “We can look at ourselves by what we have and we can develop producing our own capital.

Mrs Nkrumah also bemoaned the fact that Ghana does not own its mineral resources.

“We cannot continue not to own our gold, our diamonds. We cannot continue this way because it is around these resources that can enable us to offer free education from primary to the tertiary.”
