Preview of the weekend's football games

Preview of the Ghana Premier League games over the weekend

It is another weekend (Match Week Two) of Ghana Premier League football across country starting on Friday February 26.

After impressive games that came with some shocking results and curious soccer-starved Premier League fans filling the stands, and referees eulogized by all and sundry for fair officiating, the build-up to Match Week Two has been a joy to behold.

The local football fever is dropping from the sky and the appetizing pairings should trap it into the football-loving cylinder.

Hearts of Oak, buoyed by their opening day success against New Edubiase, will travel Tarkwa to face Medeama SC who have amends written in their minds after faltering against defending league champions, AshGold.

Free scoring Wa All Stars will engage Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City whilst, Liberty will host Inter Allies.

But first up, is New Edubiase v Ebusua Dwarfs on Friday at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium followed by Hasaacas v Techiman City on Saturday and five matches taking place on Sunday.

New Edubiase vs Ebusua Dwarfs - Obuasi

New Edubiase succumbed to 'sushi' philosophy at the Accra sports stadium before approximately 30,000 spectators, losing the game 1-0 courtesy of Yeboah's late strike. The 'Yenkokoaa' boys were unconvincing and preferred bogey football to frustrate Hearts of Oak, and paid heavily for the approach to the game. Having beaten Hearts twice last season, the start to the Premier League is a failure the team must be prepared to change the figures today.

Dwarfs on the other hand, the only side to have lost their home match, were completely outmuscled by Dreams FC and will want to answer the wakeup call from the newly promoted Premier League club. A cagey encounter, but Edubiase should come on top.

Sekondi Hasaacas vs Techiman City - Essipong

Sekondi Hasaacas suffered the heaviest defeat last weekend against Wa All Stars in Wa whilst their opponents Techiman City pulled one of the shocking results, beating Berekum Chelsea the Ohene Ameyaw Park.

Techiman City are led by owner cum spirited football administrator, Charles Kwadwo Ntim. The confidence of the team has soared after last weekend’s win and they will give Hasaacas a tough nut to crack.

Yussif Basigi and his boys must be more than ready to stand against the 'Lions'.
