Speaking to pulse.com.gh, the Executive Secretary of Ghana Integrity Initiative, Vitus Azeem said "we are satisfied that the rule of law has taken its course."
President Mahama on Wednesday removed the Commissioner for Human Rights and Administrative Justice, Lauretta Vivian Lamptey from office.
A source close to the presidency said President Mahama removed her in accordance with Article 146(9) after accepting the recommendations of a Committee set up by the Chief Justice to investigate allegations of corruption and misappropriation of public funds.
Speaking to pulse.com.gh, the Executive Secretary of Ghana Integrity Initiative, Vitus Azeem said "the constitution is very clear that the president must act according to the recommendations of the committee. So if the committee recommended that she should be fired without any further actions, then I think that we have to live with it."
He however added that "we are satisfied that the rule of law has taken its course."
The Ghana Integrity Initiative had earlier in August demanded the Mahama-led administration and the Judiciary to speed up investigations on allegations of impropriety by CHRAJ commissioner, Ms. Lauretta Vanderpuijie.
In January, 2015 the Commissioner was suspended by Mahama following the establishment of a prima facie case against her by the Chief Justice.
