The Supreme Court has thrown out a motion by Alfred Agbesi Woyome which sought to declare the state’s attempt to confiscate his assets as illegal.
The embattled businessman has been in and out of court for the last four years after being accused of wrongfully receiving GHc 51.2million from the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.

The businessman had earlier on Monday filed an appeal praying the court to dismiss the state’s attempt to value his assets.

However, the Supreme Court has quashed his motion, paving the way for the state to continue going after his properties.
Presided over by Justice A.A Benin, the court established that Woyome’s application lacked merit, subsequently throwing out his motion.
Mr Woyome has only managed to refund GHc 4million out of the GHc 51.2 million, despite the state being on his heels in the last three years
Earlier this year an apartment in Kokomlemle, reported to be his, was identified to be confiscated, but he denied owning it.
There was also a charge imposed on all the shares he owned in some profitable companies.
The latest ruling by the Supreme Court is bound to see the state intensify its quest to value and sell off Woyome’s assets in order to offset his judgement debts.
