The deputy leader of the anti-immigration party over the weekend said âpeople like Boateng as a footballer, but wouldnât want to live next to someone like himâ in reference to his Ghanaian roots [Ghanaian father].
Kevin-Prince Boateng posted in a sarcastic reference to comments by the politician concerning his brother Jerome Boateng saying:
âIf you wanna win trophies u need neighbors like my brother @JB17Officialâ
Bayern Munich, Jerome Boatengâs club have also declared their support for the player with Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge hitting out at Gauland on the clubâs official website:
âDiscrimination of any kind in sport and this society deserves the red card.
âJerome Boateng is a wonderful human being and an example to follow as a professional football player at this club.
âWe are proud that he also plays for the German national team."
27-year-old Jerome Boateng was born in Berlin to a Ghanaian father. The player represents Germany at international level and has won 57 caps for the country.
Jeromeâs brother Kevin-Prince Boateng however chose to represent the Black Stars of Ghana.
