Ghanaian radio personality, Jon Germain has been nominated as the African Broadcaster of the Year for this year’s Nigeria Broadcast Merit Awards (NBMA).
Jon Germain is the host of Drop Off, an evening radio programme which is broadcast on Accra-based Starr FM. Germain has over 15 years of experience in broadcast media spanning radio and television.
Nicknamed the Supremo, Jon Germain, who is also a singer, was the host of Allo Tigo, the long running weekly entertainment programme that aired nationwide on Metro TV. In 2014 after he announced the end of the programme, he said “it’s been awesome hosting Allo Tigo. I’ve gotten to meet and interview the likes of Rev. Jesse Jackson, Nana Akufo Addo, Bennie Man, Buju Banton, Frank Bruno, Abedi Pele, Coldplay etc. It was fun.
We created so many things that I see other shows doing now. The show introduced many big Ghanaian artistes to Ghana. Almost all the big names in Ghana music now were first interviewed on ‘Allo Tigo’. That’s where people saw them first.”
This year marks the seventh edition of the Nigeria Broadcast Merit Awards.
