Sports Minister pities GFA vice president

"People are seeing him as a traitor and I feel pity for him," Sports Minister Nii Lantey on Ghana Football Association vice president George Afriyie.

There are media reports of a frosty relationship between the two first citizens of the country's football but Nii Lantey has rubbished those claims, stating emphatically that he has never had any private conversation with George Afriyie on issues concerning the FA.

“George Afriyie has never come to me to discuss anything which is not official and all the times he has come to me he came with other people from the GFA,” he told Joy FM.

“He has come to me with the President before and he has never given me any information

“I am a Christian and I don’t swear but George Afriyie has never come to me. He now has a problem and I pity him because he is being demonised because of his family relationship with me," he said

“People are seeing him as a traitor and I feel pity for him. In that situation, if there is anything like a frosty relationship, then he is caught between the devil and the deep blue sea,” he added.
