Obinim to be placed before court for illegal power connection

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is dragging the beleaguered General Overseer of the International God’s Way Church Bishop Daniel Obinim to court for illegal connection.

The Loss Control Coordinator at the Accra East regional office, Jonathan Asante said the controversial pastor owed a total of GH¢27,000 before the blockage.

According to Accra-based TV3, Obinim did the illegal connections in his guest house, television station OB TV and residence, after ECG cut power supply to him because of the non-payment of bills.

Jonathan Asante said by their calculations from March to August this year, Obinim owes GH¢217,000 from the illegal meters. Asante explained that even if Obinim pays the debt they would still have to arraign him before a special court.

Obinim will be arraigned before a special court on Saturday, September 3.

Earlier this year Bishop Daniel Obinim spent two days in police cells for allegedly defrauding a man to a tune of Ghc 11.6m.
