Rapper claims he was detained in the US because of his name

Captain Planet said he had to wait for that amount of time in order for the immigration authority in the United States contact Ghana to find out if he was truly Ghanaian.

He disclosed this during an interview with Doreen Andoh on Cosmopolitan Mix on Joy FM.

Captain Planet, whose real name is Jeff Silvanus Dodji Dovo Negro, shared his experience when he first visited the United States of America narrating how he was detained for two hours in the US because of his name.

He said he had to wait for that amount of time in order for the immigration authority in the United States contact Ghana to find out if he was truly Ghanaian.

Upon his return back to Ghana, the musician said he was compelled to drop a part of his name to avoid having the same problem subsequently.

“When I came to Ghana I was so upset I had to take some of the names out,” he said.

Captain Planet also confirmed rumours that his wife is older than him.

“My wife is older than me but it doesn’t change anything,” he said

The Suhum-born rapper recently released a latest hit ‘Obi Agye Obi Girl’ which features Kofi Kinaata.

“My inspiration [for the song] came from hearing stories of breakups from friends and also, some of them are from movies that I’ve been watching.” he said.

The rapper further revealed that it was against this backdrop that he decided to write the song.
