Ekow believes that, currently, nothing significant is happening in the Ghanaian movie industry and that is forcing actors to carve different career paths. He stated that some are now turning men of God or politicians with others venturing into the catering business.

“We are really at a standstill, if you don’t find ways and means to do other things, branch into politics like my friends will do or go into the church business, what else do you want to do? Have you realized where we are going to? If you don’t brand into politics, we become men of God or we go into catering” Ekow told MzGee on 3FM.
When asked if he will also turn a pastor like some of his colleagues, he replied he would rather love to preach through films because to him, that’s how to win souls than to go and stand on the pulpit. “I will preach the word through film, that’s how you turn to win souls not to go and stand on the pulpit,” he said.
The “Passion of the Soul” actor emphasized that the industry is not up and running to a point where some actors now use black magic to land movie roles. “Our elders failed us, we came in and we have failed ourselves, failed the people behind us too, unfortunately, that's the truth because we are still petty and we are killing ourselves. some of them are even using 'juju' because of small small roles.”
