Fella Makafui and Medikal are adding their voices to a campaign for Shatta Wale to be freed.

Fella Makafui and Shatta Wale

The Ghanaian dancehall act turned himself in yesterday and was arrested over faking reports that he has been shot. However, for some reason, Medikal and his wife, Fella Makafui, wants him to be released.

"The Police have arrested Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale. After we publicly declared him and one other person wanted, the suspect, Shatta Wale, turned himself in today Tuesday 19th October 2021, at 8.59 pm," the police said.

An official statement for the Ghana Police added that "he has been arrested to assist the Police in investigations for his alleged involvement in the creation and circulation of information intended to cause fear and panic".

"As stated in previous statements, the public is advised to desist from publishing false information, capable of disturbing the peace of the country or risk being arrested and prosecuted," the statement concluded.

Reacting to the arrest, rapper Medikal took to Twitter to say that "FreeWale" whilst he joined the hashtag #FreeShattaWale.

Fella Makafui also hopped on the hashtag and tweeted "1 don for life !! King forever!! #FreeShattaWale".

The couple has failed to state any legal and valid reason why the arrested dancehall act should be released. However, Medikal retweeted a tweet that reads "them arrest Shatta wale you people say the law is working, where was the law when Carlos Ahenkorang dey snatch ballot sheets for parliament? Fucked up country".

The couple's support for Shatta Wale does not however come as shock to many as they have been known to be very close buddies. A few days ago, Shatta Wale even took their bromance to a higher level when he tattooed the 'Omo Ada' rapper's name on his arm.
