Streaming service, Netflix, has announced that Angelina Jolie will direct an original film, an adaptation of Loung Ung's 'First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers.'
'First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers' is a 2000 non-fiction book written by Loung Ung, a Cambodian author and survivor of the Pol Pot regime.

"I was deeply affected by Loung's book. It deepened forever my understanding of how children experience war and are affected by the emotional memory of it."
"And it helped me draw closer still to the people of Cambodia, my son's homeland," she added, referring to her adopted son, Maddox.

According to Netflix, 13-year-old Maddox Jolie-Pitt, will be a part of the production. To be directed by Jolie, the upcoming film will be produced by Rithy Panh.
Jolie made her feature directorial debut with 'In the Land of Blood and Honey,' a love story between a Serb soldier and a Bosniak prisoner, set during the 1992–95 Bosnian War.
The upcoming screen adaptation will be released on Netflix in late 2016.
