Angry Sogakope residents dump dead body at police station
There was near chaos at Sogakope in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region on Saturday when police tried to stop the burial of a man whose death they believed was suspicious.
In a bid to ascertain the cause of his death through autopsy, the command deployed a team of officers to the burial venue ostensibly to take the corpse but it had already been conveyed to the cemetery for burial.
According to Ghanaweb.com, the head of Eworyi family, Solomon Eworyi led the police to Sokpoe cemetery but the youth became incensed and trooped to the cemetery with offensive weapons to attack the police who professionally managed and returned to base.
However, at about 8 pm same day, the youth of Sokpoe carried the coffin containing the deceased, Emmanuel Norvietro alias” I need more” aged about 60 years to Sogakope Police Station and dumped it on the charge office counter amidst stone throwing, the news website reports.

It is not clear what made the youth change their mind to allow the police to carry out their duty.
Meanwhile, having cleared all the issues and restoring calm to the community, the police carried the corpse of ”I need more” to Richard Novati Catholic Hospital Morgue for preservation and autopsy.
