Man whose marriage proposal was stopped by pastor breaks his silence

In this era of social media, remaining silent when you find yourself in the centre of any controversy is tantamount to giving consent to the wrong impression.

Man whose marriage proposal was stopped by pastor breaks his silence

It is for the above reason, the young man whose marriage proposal his girlfriend’s pastor stopped has thought it prudent to set the records straight on the development.

Emokpae Ehis was seen in a recent viral video kneeling at a wedding ceremony with an engagement ring in his hand before asking his girlfriend Gloria if she would marry him.

But even before the lady could answer the question, the officiating pastor had interrupted the proposal, asked Emokpae to rise, saying he ought to have known about his intended proposal because the lady being proposed to was his daughter.

While many people thought the man of God caused the young lovers a huge embarrassment, others also said Emokpae got it wrong when he wanted to take the shine out of some one’s wedding.

Well, telling his side of the story, the young man claims that he has been dating his girlfriend, Gloria for over 7 months, and he decided to propose to her at her elder sister’s wedding which held at Souls Harvester at Udu road in Delta state.

Although he insists that the pastor also got it wrong when he demanded to be informed about the proposal in advance, he is equally pleading with the public not to attack the man of God or his church.

He wrote: “I am the guy that got engaged and this took place in Soul Harvesters church. My name is Ehis Emokpae. I didn’t regret and will never regret any of my act.

“I am so happy I engaged her in the presence of God and her biological parents was right there and the pastor is just a spiritual father. I am the guy and the family know me very well.

“She accepted the ring that’s what matters to me. The bride is the elder sister of the girl I engaged.

“The pastor said it was the church doctrine not to do that. I have been quiet for days about this issue because I don't want to judge a man of God to the public… “But the case is out anyway.

“The last prayer for that service was taking place already. The consent of a pastor is not needed before proposing to his member. She needs to accept getting married to you before reaching out to their various pastors, I see no wisdom in such act… Engaging your girl in the presence of God is the best thing as a Christian...

“I don’t believe that was the church doctrine. It was the pastor's doctrine… And another thing, I wasn’t stealing someone else’s show. The pastor to the groom’s church wasn’t happy about what the bride's pastor did in that service.

“Right in the service people were congratulating the both of us. Please nobody should insult the pastor or the church Souls Harvester… I just want people to get a clear picture of what happened.”
