Army officer 'attacks' secondary school with AK47 after teacher punished girlfriend

A lover boy Army officer and his subordinates attacked a school in Minna state because his girlfriend had been punished by a teacher for committing an offence.

It was a tense affair at the Hill Top Model Secondary School, Minna, on Tuesday after a military officer and his boys invaded the school over the punishment of his girlfriend.

gathered that the said girlfriend, identified as Farida Mustapha, a Senior Secondary School female student of the school, had been punished by a teacher following an unstated offence.

Reports say her alleged boyfriend, one Umar Alhassan, brought soldiers from the 31 Artillery Brigade of the Nigeria Army, Minna, to intimidate the teacher.

A teacher who spoke with The Eagle Online over the incidence said Alhassan, wearing military fatigue, drove into the school in a black Nissan Jeep, with registration number: Niger AA 551 KUG.

Confirming the incident, the principal of the school, Bala Mohammed, said Umar drove into the school “in a reckless way” and might have hurt students.

“We thank God that the students were not on break, else he would have knocked at least one down,” Mohammed said.

The invading soldiers reportedly arrived at the school arrived in a Mitsubishi Hilux pickup, with registration number: 31 AB 035 NA, carrying AK47 rifles but did not shoot anybody.

All of them had removed their name tags, signifying their presence was unofficial.

No official statement has been issued by the army over the matter.
