Thugs kill fulani man for killing their comrade

Unidentified assailants killed a yet-to-be-identified Fulani man for allegedly killing a suspected robber on Old Road, along Aduwawa, in the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.

The incident was said to have occurred at a hotel off College Road, popularly known as Popori Centre, which reportedly houses commercially sex workers, Punch reports.

A source in the area said trouble started at the bar of the hotel after a brawl ensued between the man and some men, as they tried to dispossess him of some amount of money.

It was learnt that the Fulani man, reportedly brought out a dagger and stabbed one of the men in the stomach, who died minutes later.

The source said, “The attackers who were angered by what had befallen their colleague, descended on the Fulani man and beat him to death before fleeing the scene.”

The incident was also said to have resulted in a pandemonium, as other patrons fled the hotel over fears of a reprisal by the Fulani residents.

Efforts to reach the management of the hotel were unsuccessful.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Stephen Onwochei, told our correspondent that he was in a meeting.

He did not respond to subsequent calls.
