Here comes another menswear fashion designer with a difference. Menswear label JZO is new to the fashion game and they have debuted their Aremo collection for Harmattan 2016.
Aremo, which in Yoruba translates to heir apparent, depicts the perfect synergy between the modern Nigerian man and staying true to the traditional values of Africa, as it is made for the Harmattan season, which is a season that Nigeria actually experiences.
JZO can be closely compared to the Orange Culture brand in that both designers cater toward the new African man with the use of traditional fabrics like custom hand woven Aso-Oke with grand Hausa/Fulani Aiki-Sama embroidery, in JZO’s collection, which symbolises a unison of Nigerian cultures.
However, they also both employ the use of non-traditional styles and cuts such as the uneven lines and lapel-less jackets. Yet, I think both designers leave room for originality in their respective designs, as JZO appears a little more reserved and toned down that the bolder, more color-filled, Orange Culture.
