Jurgen Klopp lost his first game in charge of Liverpool who fell 2-1 to Crystal Palace at home

 

"You must be sick of us” the away fans sang as Crystal Palace were again a thorn in the flesh of Liverpool taking all the three points at Anfield.

Palace, who have now won on their last four trips to Merseyside.

Liverpool were sluggish from the start the effect of a Thursday night UFEA Europa League game.

Palace showed their intent to win the game from the start deservedly took the lead in the 21st minute.

Yannick Bolasie pounced on a loose ball inside the Liverpool 18-yard-box-after an Emre Can tame clearance-to fire pass Simon Mignolet.

Liverpool came out looking to get a response as Christian Benteke forced a scrambling save from Wayne Hennessey with a header from Jordon Ibe's corner.

Just before the end of first half, Liverpool got their equliser through their best player Philippe Coutinho.

The Liverpool number 10 latched on to a dummied ball from Benteke to bring Liverpool back on level terms.

Both teams were a bit cautious in the second half but Liverpool looked like the side to get the winner.

They had much of the possession and were having openings front of the Palace goal.

Palace however shocked the home crowd with former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard watching.

Scott Dann headed in from close range after Simon Mignolet had failed to deal with his initial effort following Yohan Cabaye's deep corner.
