WP Nel will miss Scotland's Tests against Australia, Argentina and Georgia next month, but Tim Visser and Finn Russell return to the squad.

Uncapped Edinburgh prop Allan Dell is in line to make his international debut for Vern Cotter's side after team-mate Nel was ruled out due to neck injury sustained in a European Challenge Cup win over Harlequins last Saturday.

Nel's fellow prop and club-mate Rory Sutherland will also play no part after suffering a groin injury in the same match, so Dell gets his chance.

Wing Visser and fly-half Russell are among the players who did not feature on the tour of Japan to return to a 31-man squad which includes centre Mark Bennett and prop Zander Fagerson.

Lock Grant Gilchrist is set to make his first international appearance since the World Cup last year, while back-row Hamish Watson is also recalled.

Alex Dunbar and Rob Harley also come in, with Sean Lamont, Ruaridh Jackson and Matt Scott missing out along with the injured David Denton (hamstring).

Scott was left out amid an ongoing dispute between Premiership Rugby and the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) over unpaid injury compensation bills, but captain Greig Laidlaw and Visser are among five England-based players in the squad.

Scotland face the Wallabies on November 12, with Argentina visiting Murrayfield a week later and Georgia the opponents at Rugby Park in Kilmarnock the following weekend.
