Celebrity friends inspire champ to win in US Open

Serena Williams was cheered by some popular faces at her second round game of the US Open
 
 

Some celebrities were present to watch Serena Williams in action at the ongoing US Open.

Serena took another step towards her first calendar Grand Slam with victory over Kiki Bertens in the second round of the US Open.

She was however buoyed by the presence of some of her celebrity friends and some other popular faces.

Pop singer Kelly Rowland, British born American artist and actress Jemima Kirke, Hollywood actor and singer Jamie Foxx, Jazz legend Tony  Bennett and One Direction singer Liam Payne  were all there to watch as Serena battled Dutch Kiki Bertens.

Former Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland who was accompanied by her husband is a close friend of Serena.

She was seen cheering on her friend with her manager husband Tim Witherpoon.

Serena also wore her new sneakers for the game.

She announced via her Instagram page that she has partnered with sport brand, Nike to produce the sneakers to be included in their 'Greatness Collection.'

The three sneakers to be part of the collection are named the 'Nike Air Max 1 Ultra, 'Nike Roshe LD-1000# and NikeCourt Flare.'
