German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have kicked off pre-season training ahead of next season.

A host of senior players were pictured on their first training session after the holidays.

Head coach Pep Guardiola was in charge of the training in front of their fans in the Bavarian capital with just over six weeks until they kick off their title defence against Hamburg at the Allianz Arena.

Thomas Muller, Arjen Robben, Philipp Lahm, Xavi Alonso and David Alaba were all present at the training.

Injured French winger Franck Ribery also attended but watched on from the sidelines while holding his crunches as he looks to get over a persistent ankle problem.

New signing Douglas Costa was not part of the training.

The 24-year-old who was bought  from Shakhtar Donestsk for £21million has signed a five-year contract on Wednesday, July 1.

Bayern will  face Valencia on July 18 in one of their pre-season friendly games.
