In fulfilment of a promise made by President John Mahama during his third State of the Nation Address in Parliament, government has begun the distribution of free sandals to pupils across the country.
Additionally, 15 million exercise books which will be rolled out in phases across the country and six million text books will also be distributed to schools.

The President also announced that half a million school uniforms will be distributed to pupils while 30,000 computers will be given to various school laboratories and to improve ICT education.
