The soldiers were also said to have killed 300 insurgents in the battle to reclaim Malam Fatouri and Damasak on Monday, March 9.

Troops from Niger and Chad have recaptured two communities in Borno State from Boko Haram insurgents, military sources say.

10 Chadian soldiers were reportedly killed in the battle while 30 Nigerien and Chadian soldiers were left injured.

Chad and Niger recently launched air and ground strikes against Boko Haram in collaboration with Nigeria as part of efforts to rid the region of the sect.

“We have kicked the enemy out of these areas and they are now under our control. We had permission from Nigeria for this action,” a Nigerien military source told Reuters.

Meanwhile 200 vehicles carrying foreign soldiers are said to have crossed the border into Nigeria to join the fight against Boko Haram.
