This has led to several protests by customers who have their monies locked up with the gold dealership firm.

On Tuesday, there were fresh protests by aggrieved customers who marched through the principal street of Accra, starting from the Obra Spot and ending at the Accra Hearts of Oak Park.

The demonstrators pleaded with the government to intervene to get Menzgold to refund their investments.

They were also unhappy with the silence by Becca and other Menzgold ambassadors who have remained silent over the plight of customers.

One customer also stated that they were assured by dancehall artiste Stonebwoy that their investments were safe, only for the company to keep postponing their refund dates.

“I remember Stonebwoy promised us that our money was safe,” an angry customer told Accra-based Class FM.

In recent months, Menzgold, which offers very high returns to customers, has come under the spotlight following several inconclusive tussles with the Bank of Ghana (BoG), the Minerals Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The Central Bank and Minerals Commission maintain that the company has been taking deposits and locally selling gold despite not having the requisite licence to do.

However, the seriousness of the issue was confirmed in September when SEC directed Menzgold to shut down its gold trading activities.

Currently, the operations of the company remain closed to the public, with several customers agitating for a refund of their investments.
