The Railway Workers Union are on strike to demand their salary arrears and better conditions of service.
The Chief Director at the Ministry Twumasi Ankrah Selby in an interview with Accra-based Starr FM said they were working tirelessly to meet the demands of the railway workers.

Selby argued that the money the industry is fetching is less than the amount needed to pay their wages at the end of every month hence the salary arrears.

The Ghana Railway Workers Union Thursday declared an indefinite strike after an unproductive meeting with the National Labour Commission (NLC) and the Transport Ministry.
They are demanding payment of their three-month salary arrears and improvement in their condition of service.
