The party announced this after a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting to plan the elections.

The Council also resolved that nomination forms should sell at GH¢20,000 while candidates will have to pay GH¢400,000 as the filing fee.

However, for women willing to contest, they will pay 50% less of the filing fee while there will be an additional reduction for aspirants with physical disabilities.

On November 17, the NDC went to Congress and elected new national officers for the party. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo emerged as the National Chairman.

The Congress had over 9,000 delegates participating in that election but this number is expected to shoot up significantly for the presidential primaries which has been opened to all executives in the party right from the branch, constituency, regional and national levels.

This has led to the postponement of the election of the flagbearer to January 19 which was originally scheduled for December 7.
