The drivers are protesting what they describe as unfair policies by the Driver and Vehicles Licensing Authority (DVLA).

The drivers have also accused officials of the DVLA of extortion which they say is making life unbearable for them.
The chairman of the Association Charles Mensah said the activities at the DVLA frustrate their business.
Last year, the DVLA served a notice that it would no longer register commercial vehicles with no seat belts for passengers. The acting Chief Executive, Rudolph Beckley explained that the new directive is in conformity with Section 119 of the Road Traffic Regulation Legislative Instrument (LI) 2180 which will help achieve a 50 percent reduction in deaths and serious injuries associated with vehicular accidents by 2020.

Notable areas affected are, Ashaiman, Nungua, Madina, Dansoman, Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Lapaz, Odorkor, Malam, Awoshie among others.
Meanwhile, some passengers had to walk to work under the sun while others pleaded with private vehicles owners to take them.
