The Northern-based tertiary institution’s Dufie Agnes bettered Jacqueline Poku of the University of Cape Coast’s (UCC) 14:89 seconds in the 100m hurdle to set a new record of 14:25 seconds in athletics.
The University for Development Studies (UDS) has set six new records at the 26th edition of the GUSA Games held at the University Of Ghana, Legon.
Also, the University’s Aduntira Grace recorded a time of 1min:1.03 seconds in the 400m hurdles to beat the previous record of 1min:02.14 set by Christian Bakika.
Meanwhile, Sarah Koomson improved Elizabeth Azure’s 4min:36.52 seconds to set a new record of 4min:32.52 seconds in the women’s 1,500 meters event.
In the 4x100 meters men’s race, Derrick Sarkodie, Barnabas Kobby Aggary, Aflamah Wallace and Sarfo Ansah also run a time of 40:27 seconds to beat the previous record of 40:29 seconds.
Team UDS’ 4X100 meters women’s team followed suit with an impressive feat after recording a time of 45:96 seconds to better the 46:46 seconds record set by UCC in 2017.
In another development, UDS dominated the 4x400 meters women’s race by setting another record. Aduntira Grace, Awam Omar Salina,Agyeman Kate and Nuhu Rafiatu completed their race in 3mins:44.43 seconds to beat the previous record of 3mins:46.16 seconds in the women’s division.
