Bayern coach Heynckes misses Schalke clash with flu

Bayern Munich head coach Jupp Heynckes missed the Bundesliga leaders' home game against Schalke on Saturday after suffering with the flu.

With the 72-year-old ill, his place on the bench was taken by assistant coach Peter Hermann.

Under Heynckes, Bayern have won 20 of their last 21 games in all competitions and face Schalke looking to move 18 points clear at the Bundesliga summit.

Bayern are looking for a new head coach for next season as Heynckes has insisted he will leave at the end of the current campaign, having taken over from the sacked Carlo Ancelotti in October.

Heynckes steered Bayern to the 2013 treble of Champions League, Bundesliga and German Cup titles in his previous stint in charge, with a repeat this term still on the cards.
